"Love your enemies, for they tell you your Faults."

Benjamin Franklin

This quote is by Benjamin Franklin from Poor Richard’s Almanack, 1756.

Benjamin Franklin:

·     Is a well known founding father of the United States

·     He was a prolific inventor

·     He was a respected diplomat

·     He was known for being prudent in dealing with people

The big idea here is that your enemies will highlight the areas you need to work on for improvement and tell you how to beat them.

Here's how this applies to us and receiving VA disability benefits:

·     the Veterans Benefits Administration or VBA should be considered your enemy when submitting disability benefit claims

·     VA denial letters will inform you WHY your claim was denied giving you the answer on how to FIX your claim and resubmit

For example, say you apply for emphysema developed after you separated from the military. The VBA will review your military service record, military medical records, and any documents YOU provide when you submit the claim. After about 120 days the VBA sends you a decision letter, in this case, a denial letter. Don't become frustrated. READ the letter and you will see that the VA will include WHY they denied your claim. Once you know why the VA denied your letter go gather the required documentation needed to get your claim approved.

So, let's put this into action:

1.   Submit the best claim you can put together

2.   Wait on the decision letter from the VA

3.   If the claim is denied, read the reason for the denial and fix the claim

4.   Resubmit the claim with the updated information

Once you submit your claim, track the progress of your claim at VA.GOV. You will be able to see when the VA received your claim and the step they are on in the process of working through your claim. The site will let you know if there are any additional documents the VA needs to move your claim forward.

Oh, one more thing...

If your goal is to turbocharge this process, take a couple of minutes to check out my book, How To Write Your Own Successful VA Claim For Service-Connected Disability Compensation (A VA Claim Guide For Veterans) at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0976BQK81.

This makes it easy for you to work with the VA to submit successful disability claims without relying on others to submit the claim for you.
