An Introduction To Our Site Manager

Hey Veterans! I’m Nicasio Rios Jr., a 20-year active duty U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, and I know the VA claims process inside and out. Most people call me Nic. As a best-selling author of “How To Write Your Own Successful VA Claim For Service-Connected Disability Compensation,” I’ve turned my personal experiences navigating the VA into a straightforward guide that sets you up for success.

Having secured a 100% Permanent and Total (P&T) disability rating from the VA, I’ve learned exactly what it takes to get results. I want to share this wisdom with you so you can confidently tackle your own claims. Together, we can demystify the process and empower you to claim what you deserve.

Don’t let confusion hold you back. I’m here to help you take control of your disability claims process. My goal is to ensure you have the knowledge and tools you need to succeed.

You can always reach me via this site by clicking the Contact button in the header or you can email me here ==> [email protected]. Let me know if you have any suggestions of how to make the site better or if we are missing any information. You can also email me with any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.

Why Am I So Passionate?

My Personal Story with the VA: When I retired in 2009, the VA rated me at 30% and I was fine with that. Like many veterans, I felt that I was in good physical shape and there were many of my brothers and sisters that needed the disability more than me.

Later I realized that unless I was rated at 50% or higher I would only receive 30% of my retirement pay as tax exempt and no other compensation. I worked with a veteran that was accredited through the VA to increase my rating and he helped get me to 50%. I stopped there.

Now I was receiving VA disability compensation and my full retirement.Years later a buddy of mine reached out to me to see how I was doing in retirement. Eventually, we started talking about VA disability ratings and he convinced me to apply for an increase to my disability rating. With his guidance and my original medical records I was able to go from 50% to 100% in about 24 months without the help of a VSO, accredited agent or disability lawyer.

During this time I met with and spoke with many veterans about their own VA disability journey. I realized that the VA makes the disability claims process difficult to understand, vague when they do give you any information and seem to change the process without informing veterans.

This is why I decided to write my book, "How To Write Your Own Successful VA Claim For Service-Connected Disability Compensation (A VA Claim Guide For Veterans)." I have added to the book since the initial publishing in 2021 thanks to feedback from readers.  From that book came the thought for this website.

The goal is to help as many veterans as possible receive the VA benefits they have earned through their service.
